Participation at the High level thematic debate on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals

On 21 April 2016 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov has participated and delivered a statement at the High level thematic debate on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals which was held at the UN premises in New York with the participation of the UN Secretary-General.

During his statement, the Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of the process of improvement of the previous and the development and implementation of the new global development agenda for the post-2015 period. He has noted that the Government of Tajikistan currently is developing the National Development Strategy for the period up to 2030 and mid-term national development program for the period 2016-2020, the main purpose of which is to improve the well-being of the population through sustainable economic and social development.

The Minister also noted that in the preparation of the abovementioned programs, along with the priorities of sustainable development of the country, the tasks specified in the framework of Sustainable Development Goals will be taken into account.
