Bilateral relations of Tajikistan with Luxembourg

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg were established on May 22, 1992.

The Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Belgium covers the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg as well. The Embassy of Luxembourg to the Republic of Tajikistan functions with residence in Moscow.

During the establishment of diplomatic relations, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rakhmon twice visited the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. During the first visit of the Head of state on October 2004, has met with the Prime Minister of Luxembourg Jean-Claude Juncker and high-ranking officials. Also the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Tajikistan was signed.  

On July 19, 2010 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn visited Dushanbe and had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Hamrokhon Zarifi.

On June 8-10, 2011 Emomali Rahmon, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan paid official visit to Luxemburg. Bilateral negotiations of President Emomali Rahmon with Grand Duke Henri, Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, Chairman of Parliament Loran Mosar and other officials took place. During the meetings the issues of present and further development of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Luxembourg, regional cooperation and security, water-energy issues other international matters of mutual interest have been discussed in the margin of the visit. The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has also visited Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce and participated in the Business Forum to promote business opportunities of Tajikistan.  

In Maу 2017 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan  Sirojiddin Aslov has paid an official visit to Luxembourg where he had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Asselborn The two sides highly valued the outcomes of Tajikistan Presidents visit, Leader of Nation Emomali Rahmon in 2004 and 2011 to Luхеburg. For further improvement of bilateral relations it was suggested that there must be set up an instrument for political consultations between the two countries.

Cooperation of Tajikistan and Luxembourg in the fields of economy and trade is not yet significantly developed.

Tajikistan and Luxembourg actively cooperate within the framework of international organizations such as the UN, OSCE, etc.
