Congratulatory letter of the President of the UN General Assembly on the occasion of adoption of Resolution entitled International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028

On December 21, 2016 the UN General Assembly (UNGA) unanimously adopted resolution entitled International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028. On this occasion, the President of the UNGA Mr. Peter Thomson sent to Founder of Peace and National Unity-Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon a letter of congratulations, where it is said:

“Excellency,

I have the honour to congratulate You and Your delegation with the successful adoption of your Resolution entitled International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 at the United Nations General Assembly on 21 December 2016.

I sincerely hope the new Decade which focuses on the sustainable development and integrated management of water resources, as well as furtherance of cooperation and partnership at all levels would help the countries to achieve internationally agreed water-related development goals and targets, particularly those contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
