22nd Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO)

On February 28, 2017 22th Meeting of the Council of the Foreign Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization was hosted by the Government of Pakistan, in Islamabad. The representatives of 10 member countries, as well as international and regional organizations attended the meeting.

At the meeting, delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan was headed by Mr. Nizomiddin Zohidi, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. The meeting discussed the agenda of the 13th Summit of ECO to be held on March 1. The parties also discussed and improved a draft document entitled "ECO Vision 2025", which defines the main areas of cooperation of the member-countries aimed at sustainable development. Along with the consideration of the document, the Draft Islamabad Declaration was also discussed and finalized by the participants, which will be submitted for approval by the Heads of the ECO Member Countries.

Activities of the ECO subsidiaries and enhancement of their work efficiency aimed at increasing regional cooperation were also discussed during the meeting, which adopted relevant decisions.

In accordance with the decision of the 22nd meeting the next meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers will be held in 2018 in Dushanbe.
