Outcomes of the Foreign Minister`s visit to Turkmenistan

On April 16, 2014 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov paid a visit to Turkmenistan.

During the visit the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan was received by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and S.Aslov, he also met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

During these meetings the sides discussed the state and prospects for bilateral cooperation. The sides exchanged views on the issues on the top of international and regional agenda, discussed the political aspects of cooperation in the framework of international and regional organizations.

The two sides expressed common vision, that relations between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan were based on the principles of trust, mutual understanding and partnership, and continual political dialogue at the highest level positively contributed to this process.

The parties confirmed the importance of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan on Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which promotes expanded interactions in such areas as transport, industry, energy, education and culture.

The parties noted the need for efficient use of the existing potential for further development of bilateral economic relations.
