Statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan in the meeting of the UN Security Council

On 25 September 2019 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin addressed the meeting of the UN Security Council on “Cooperation between the United Nations and regional and subregional organizations in maintaining international peace and security: the role of SCO, CIS and CSTO in combating terrorism”.

While expressing concern over the increase in international terrorism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking and different forms of transnational organized crime Minister Muhriddin highlighted the important role played by regional and subregional organizations, including the SCO, CIS and CSTO in reinforcing UN efforts in countering the challenges and threats of the modern complex world.

Minister Muhriddin also briefed the participants on the outcome of the High-level Conference “International and Regional Cooperation on Countering Terrorism and its Financing Through Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime”, which took place in Dushanbe on 16-17 May 2019.
