On November 3-5, 2014 in Vienna Tajik delegation represented by the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations Mr. Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov and the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the OSCE and other International Organizations in Vienna Mr. Ismatullo Nasredinov participated at the Second United Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC).
The purpose of this conference was to review 11 years of progress in the implementation of the Almaty Programme of Action, as well as the adoption of the Vienna Programme of Action. The main purpose of the adoption of this document is primarily to assist developing countries landlocked, infrastructure development, building trade, international freight cars and other destinations.
The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has addressed the Conference at the opening session. The Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of Austria Mr. Sebastian Kurz was elected as the President of the Conference.
Also at the opening of the 2nd LLDC the Federal President of the Republic of Austria Dr. Heinz Fischer, the President of the United Nations General Assembly Sam Kutesa, the Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Gyan Chandra Acharya, the EU Commissioner for International Co-operation and Development Neven Mimica, the Secretary General of the World Customs organization Kunio Mikuriya and the Director General of the World Trade Organization, Robert Carvalho de Azevedo have addressed participants.
The Conference was attended by over 1,500 participants, among them are heads of states and high-level representatives from 120 countries, donor countries, a number of influential international and regional organizations, as well as other dignitaries.
At the same time also was held a business-forum.
On November 4 the representative of the Tajik delegation addressed with a detailed report.
The Tajik delegation also met with the delegation of Japan headed by the Parliamentary Vice-Minister, Member of the House of Representatives Mr. Kentaro Sonoura on November 4.
At the end of the Conference Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries for the Decade 2014-2024 and Vienna Declaration were adopted.
