Participation and speech of the head of the Tajikistan’s delegation at the session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers

On 28 November 2020, in Niamey, the 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation continued its work, in which the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseinzoda took part and made a speech.

During the speech, the head of the Tajik delegation emphasized the need to strengthen the role of the Organization in addressing topical problems of the Muslim countries, the importance of strengthening cooperation against terrorism and modern threats and challenges. Referring to the international initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan, the effective role of the country in ensuring peace and stability and promoting peace-building missions were especially emphasized.

During the meeting, the representative of the Republic of Chad, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, was elected as the new Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for the period of 2021-2026.

At the conclusion of the event, the Niamey Declaration was adopted on its results, decisions and recommendations. It was decided that the next session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers will be hosted by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
