Meeting with the UN Under-Secretary-General

On 3 November 2021, in Glasgow on the side-lines of the 26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseinzoda met with the UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Courtenay Rattray.

During the meeting the sides discussed issues related to the development of inclusive cooperation with relevant UN agencies, joint coordinated steps to address the effects of COVID-19 and vaccine shortages, prevention of the consequences of climate change and its negative impact on the environment.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan provided information on Tajikistan's international initiatives in the field of water and glacier protection, in particular the essence of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028".

The sides expressed deep interest in promoting an effective and comprehensive dialogue between the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations in areas of mutual interest, in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Vienna Programme of Action for Landlocked Developing Countries.
