Bilateral relations of Tajikistan with Lithuania

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Lithuania were established in August 13, 1992.

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Tajikistan is Mr. Egidius Navicas (since 2023, with residence in Astana).

The basis for the development of mutually beneficial relations is laid during visits at the highest and high levels.

In 2007 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekunas paid a visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. During the visit, Petras Vaitiekunas met with President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Republic of Lithuania, which took place on February 11-13, 2009, opened the new landmark in a history of bilateral relations between countries. During the visit the President of the Republic of Tajikistan held talks with the President of Lithuanian Republic V. Adamkus.

In 2011 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania A. Azubalis visited Dushanbe as the OSCE Chairman.

The legal framework for cooperation between the two states is formed by intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements. The Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Lithuania signed bilateral documents in the areas of economy, trade, industry and investment.

Lithuania is considered to be one of the major trade partners of the Republic of Tajikistan among the European countries.

The foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Republic of Latvia in 2024 amounted – 18 857, 4 thousand U.S. dollars. Exports - 775,7 and import - 18081,7 thousand US dollars.
