Bilateral relations of Tajikistan with Lithuania
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Lithuania were established in August 13,1992.
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Lithuania is Mr. Bahtovar Safarzoda with residence in Minsk. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Tajikistan is Mr Gintautas Vasyulis with residence in Astana.
Political cooperation (exchange of the visits). On April 17, 2007 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Petras Vaitiekunas made a visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. During the visit, Petras Vaitiekunas met with Prezident of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
The official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to Republic of Lithuania, which took place on February 11-13, 2009, opened the new landmark in a history of bilateral relations between countries.
Economic and trade relations. Lithuania is considered to be one of the major trade partners of the Republic of Tajikistan among the European countries.
The foreign trade turnover of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Republic of Latvia in January-November 2023 amounted 18759,4 to thousand U.S. dollars (exports – 88,3 thousand U.S. dollars, import – 18671,1 thousand U.S. dollars).
The legal framework of bilateral cooperation is in its infancy and currently consists of 5 documents.
