Bilateral relations of the Republic of Tajikistan with the Kingdom of Spain

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and Kingdom of Spain were established on August 4th 1992.      

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Spain to the Republic of Tajikistan is Luis Francisco Martinez Montes (with residence in Astana since 19 February 2025).

In 2007 during the Chairmanship of Spain in OSCE the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain Migel Angel Moratinos paid a visit to Tajikistan and met with the President of the country and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.

In 2010, during the another visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain Miguel Moratinos to the Republic of Tajikistan, along with high-level meetings, a memorandum of understanding and co-operation was signed between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain.

Cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Spain in the field of economy and trade continues to expand. The volume of trade turnover between the Republic of Tajikistan and Spain for 11 months of 2024 was about 5 million US dollars.

The contractual and legal basis for cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Spain is being formed.
