Ceremony of Presentation of Credentials to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan by Newly Designated Foreign Ambassadors

On arrival at Dushanbe International Airport newly designated foreign ambassador is met by an authorized officer of the State Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

On the day of the presentation of credentials to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan ambassadors (with spouses) arrive at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then at “Qasri Millat” (“Palace of Nation”) in a car provided by the Tajik side, and accompanied by representative(s) of the State Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Guard of Honor of the National Guard is lined up in honor of ambassadors at the both sides of carpet strip at the main entrance of “Qasri Millat”.

At the main entrance of "Qasri Millat", Head of the State Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan welcomes ambassadors (with spouses) and on the main staircase of the Palace escorts to the holding room.

Ambassador’s entourage (senior diplomatic staff, interpreter) are led by the Protocol officer to enter the “Palace of Nation” from the side entrance and proceed to the holding room.

The representative of the State Protocol Department invites ambassadors (and spouses) and accompanying persons to proceed to the Hall of the Presentation of Credentials and take their designated position.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan enters the Ceremonial Hall at the appointed time and stands at designated place.

National flag and the Standard of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan are set in the Ceremonial Hall.

In the ceremony of presentation of credentials, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan is accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs (standing on the right) and the Assistant to the President on Foreign Relations (standing on the left).

Full name and a title of ambassador is declared in Tajik and English languages.

Ambassador-designate approaches to the President and stops at a designated place indicated on the red carpet strip in a few meters away from the President. Ambassador makes a slight bow of the head towards the President and says a brief speech (consecutive translation into English will be provided).

Ambassador hands over the Credentials and Letters of Recall as appropriate to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, shakes hands and takes the place on the left side of the President for commemorative photo and then returns to his/her designated place.

After all ambassadors present credentials, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan addresses a team of ambassadors with a brief speech (consecutive translation into English will be provided).

On completion of statement, ambassadors are invited for the collective photo with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Participants of the ceremony are offered champagne and soft drinks. Conversation of the President with ambassadors takes place concurrently. At the end of the conversation, President leaves the Ceremonial Hall and the ambassadors will be invited to approach the press for a brief statement to the media (on ambassador’s own desire).

Farewell ceremony is conducted like welcoming order takes place upon arrival at “Qasri Millat”.

If the Ambassador wishes to present a gift to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, it should be presented through the State Protocol Department.
