Celebration of Tajikistan Independence Day in Cairo

The Tajik Embassy in Cairo hosted a diplomatic reception on 9 September 2019 in one of the hotels of Cairo on the occasion of the 28th Anniversary since the Independence Day of the Republic of Tajikistan. Senior officials from various ministries and government agencies of Egypt, foreign ambassadors and diplomats accredited in Cairo, representatives of mass media and business community of Egypt, as well as the Tajik fellow citizens attended the reception.

In his welcoming speech the Charge d'Affaires of Tajikistan to Egypt Rahim Alisherzoda noting the achievements of our country over the past 28 years stressed the crucial importance of Independence Day in the formation of the new Tajik statehood and its further development along the path of peace, progress and prosperity. In his speech, it was also noted that in accordance with the instructions of the presidents of Tajikistan and Egypt, significant progress has been made in strengthening our bilateral relations in recent years and the intention of countries to conduct the Second session of the joint Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries on economic, scientific and technical cooperation and also  the next round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Tajikistan and Egypt in Cairo at the end of this year confirm the above.

After the speech, for the guests of event a short video about the launch ceremony of the second unit of the great strategic object of our country - the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Plant was shown, which was officially launched on September 9, 2019 by the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Emomali Rahmon. Egyptian officials, foreign ambassadors and other guests congratulated the country's leadership and the Tajik people on Independence Day and the launch of the second unit of the Rogun Hydroelectric Power Station, and expressed gratitude for the hospitality and interesting program.

At this event, guests had the opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural exhibition of the Embassy dedicated to the years of rural development, tourism and folk crafts in Tajikistan. The exhibition included national costumes and suzani, information materials about the tourism potential of the country, as well as collections of paintings by the famous Tajik artist Farrukh Negmatzade.
