On November 4, 2019 the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Federal Republic of Germany Sohibnazar Gayratsho visited the port city of Hamburg within the working trips to western Germany.
During a meeting with the Representative of Hamburg in the European Union and the Federation on foreign affairs Ms. Almut Möller, the Ambassador provided information on reforms taken by the Government of Tajikistan aimed at improving the investment climate, and expressed the country's interest in diversifying economic resources. Ambassador noted that, the Hanseatic city of Hamburg can benefit from the tax and customs preferences, as well as advantages of free economic zones when participating in the industrialization process of Tajikistan. Ms. Möller emphasized the importance of holding of the annual Navruz Economic Forums in Hamburg in the course of enhancing the awareness of the relevant circles of Hamburg of the economic and trade opportunities of Tajikistan.
On the same day, Tajikistan’s economic potential was presented at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce. Taking into account the availability of renewable energy sources, agricultural products, low-cost labor and favorable investment conditions the parties exchanged views on the possibility of introducing advanced German technologies in industrialization and advanced training.
The port of Hamburg is one of the largest seaports of Germany and second largest in Europe. It plays an important role in trade relations between Asian and European countries.
More than one hundred thousand Persian speakers, including Tajik students, live, work and study in Hamburg.
