Meeting with the U.S. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State

On January 7, 2020 in Dushanbe the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin received the US Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Ambassador Alice Wells.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current situation and prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation between Tajikistan and the USA, as well as exchanged views on current trends in the region and the world, including security.

Also during the conversation an exchange of views on regional security and the peace process in the neighboring Afghanistan took place. In this context the sides paid special attention to the issues of strengthening the protection of the Tajik-Afghan border, and making consistent efforts in jointly addressing the threats of modern times, namely terrorism, extremism, radicalism, and illicit drug trafficking.
