30th Anniversary of Tajikistan’s membership to UN

2 September 2021 marks 30 years since Tajikistan became a member of the United Nations Organizations. Tajikistan and the United Nations have a proper level of mutually beneficial cooperation, which is constantly expanding in priority areas.

The United Nations and its specialized agencies are actively facilitating the implementation of strategic goals, particularly in the framework of the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030, as well as make a significant input to the development of economic and social spheres of our country.

The Republic of Tajikistan appreciates the fundamental role of the United Nations in promoting peace and stability, as well as achieving the goals of sustainable development.

As a full-fledged member of the Organization, Tajikistan is actively involved in the elaboration and implementation of the UN Water Agenda, achieving sustainable development goals, preventing climate change and protecting glaciers.

During the country's membership in the UN, a number of initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, were warmly received by international community including the proclamation of 2003 as the "Year of Fresh Water", 2005-2015 as the International Decade for Action "Water for Life", 2013 years of the "International Year of Water Cooperation" and 2018-2028 the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development".

The Republic of Tajikistan will continue to strengthen close cooperation with the United Nations and its specialized agencies in order to build a safe and secure world for future generations.
